to PPM –
“Found
in the impluvium was a pilaster supporting a statuette of a bathing Venus,
preceded by a rectangular marble basin which was found in fragments, of which only
the supports remain: on the edge in the north-west corner there was a a
single fluted white marble leg, a support of a round table: at the south-east
of the same, recessed into the floor, was the cistern mouth of a terracotta
puteal of the underlying cistern.”

to Carrella -
The statue of the
crouching Venus was found in fragments in the impluvium of the atrium, on 6th
February 1884.

According to Boyce, the interior was white, outlined with red stripes and on the rear wall was painted the figure of Jupiter.
He was sitting on a throne with a green cushion, his feet on a footstool.
The upper part of him was naked, the lower wrapped in a reddish mantle.
He held a sceptre in his left hand, and a thunderbolt in his right.
On his left side, was the eagle gazing up at Jupiter.
The arched ceiling of the niche was painted with yellow, rose and violet stars on a white background.
In the centre was painted the bust of Luna with the whip in her hand, beneath her was a crescent moon.
